New glass entomological box (26x33x6 cm) containing nine large lepidopterans of the genus Idea (family Danaidae), known as the "Great Indonesian Gliders", because they can be carried for hours with their wings open, without flapping, by downdraughts. Five different species are presented here, both male and female: Idea idea, Idea leuconoe, Idea blanchardi, Idea vedana, plus subspecies, notably leuconoe.
All these splendid, large butterflies with their almost transparent white wings, veined with black and decorated with spots of the same color, are native to the humid mangrove forests bordering all the islands of Indonesia, from Malaysia, through most of the islands of the immense Indonesian archipelago, including Borneo, Sumatra, Moluccas, Celebes and all the way to the Philippines.
The box is new and all the butterflies in perfect condition.
