Brand-new glass entomological box (26x39x5.5 cm) containing 32 well-identified lepidopterans (butterflies) of the Lycaenidea (Lycenidae) family from Indonesia (Bali, Sumatra, Java, Halmahera, etc.), Irian Jaya (Papua New Guinea) and the Philippines.
The Lycaenidae, with over five thousand recorded species, are generally small butterflies found on all five continents, including around a hundred species in Europe alone.
Here we present the rarest species of this vast family, all native to Indonesia, P.N.G. or the Philippines. Notably the Bindahara phocides from Bali, Jamides aruensis (Irian Jaya), Poritia erycinoides (Sumatra), etc, etc. The diversity of sizes, shapes and colors of the 32 species presented is astonishing within a single family.
The box is new and all the species are in perfect condition. Of both scientific and decorative interest.
