Pezon & Michel: Very rare split bamboo fly rod that belonged to Charles Ritz. Model "Parabolic Concours, 130 g distance" N° 125. Two unequal sections, 1.52 m tip, 0.92 m butt. Total length 2.44 m or 8 feet for 130 g. This rod, specially built for the 130 g distance competition, had no other restriction than its weight, which could not exceed 130 g. Built from the finest bamboo in 150 copies, this rod was used between 1950 and 1976 (when carbon fiber was introduced) by all French competition casters, as well as English, Belgian, American and Scandinavian ones... Developed by Charles Ritz and Pierre Creusevaut, for a quarter of a century this rod took all the top places and broke world fly distance records several times in international casting competitions. The model we are presenting is in very good condition, in its original canvas sheath with stake. Despite the advent of carbon fiber, this rod in its class (130 g) remains very competitive for one-handed distance fly fishing, but can also be used to fish for large sea trout, steelhead or salmon. In the 60's, Winston ordered 100 130 g scions from Pezon et Michel to manufacture the best steelhead rod on the West Coast, with a lightened hollow butt. Charles Ritz Collection.
