Old glass entomological box (26x33x6 cm), museum-type in perfect condition, containing a fine representation of eleven lepidopterans (butterflies) all belonging to the genus Charaxes, of different species but all well identified and originating from Indonesia. The Charaxes genus, part of the Nymphalidae family, comprises around 200 species, most of which are found in tropical Africa. Several groups of species are also present, like those represented here, in the Australasian region and notably on numerous Indonesian islands, Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi.
The box is in perfect condition and the butterflies beautifully preserved.
