Entomological glass box (26x33x6 cm), containing a fine collection of nine yellow or orange butterflies, belonging to the genera Hebomoïa or Phoebis, of the large family Piéridés, of which 25 species are represented in mainland France, the best known being the cabbage maggot (Pieris brassica). The well-identified species presented here are tropical, and the six large Hemoboïa leucippe originate from the island of Ambon in the Mollucas archipelago (Indonesia). The Phoebis philea in the middle are native to Mexico. The Piéridés (a huge family with over a thousand known species to date) are found on every continent except Antarctica.
The box and butterflies are in perfect condition. Very decorative.
